About the role
Job Description:
Location - Bellevue, WA or Boston, MA Hybrid - 3 days per week in office
Our Opportunity Chewy is seeking an Associate Director of Marketing Analytics to join our Marketing Sciences and Operations team in Bellevue, WA or Boston, MA. In this position, you will lead media analytics, measurement, and testing across Social, TV, Influencer, and Content Marketing. You will help Chewy understand how these investments shape customer behavior, brand growth, and long-term business outcomes, and you will turn that understanding into clear recommendations for media strategy and investment.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone with deep expertise in Marketing Mix Modeling, incrementality testing, causal measurement, and media effectiveness. You will be equally comfortable setting a measurement strategy, designing a geo-based experiment, evaluating model assumptions, working directly in SQL or Python, and presenting recommendations to senior marketing and business leaders.
You will partner closely with Brand, Media, Social, Influencer, Content, Finance, Data Science, Analytics Engineering, and agency teams. You will establish an integrated approach that connects upper-funnel activity to customer and financial outcomes, builds confidence in how Chewy measures media impact, and enables better decisions about where and how we invest. You will also lead and develop analytics talent while remaining directly engaged in the highest-priority analytical work.
What You Will Do • Lead media measurement strategy for the Chief Brand Officer • Own the measurement strategy and analytical roadmap for Social, TV, Influencer, and Content Marketing. • Define how Marketing Mix Modeling, controlled experiments, platform lift studies, attribution, brand measurement, and customer analytics work together within a common measurement framework. • Identify gaps in data, methodology, and reporting and build a prioritized roadmap to improve Chewy's media measurement capabilities. • Own Marketing Mix Modeling and media effectiveness • Serve as the subject matter expert for Marketing Mix Modeling, including model design, variable selection, calibration, validation, interpretation, and business application. • Validate MMM findings with incrementality tests, lift studies, attribution, and other causal evidence, and clearly communicate uncertainty and methodological limitations. • Partner with internal teams and external vendors to challenge assumptions, improve model quality, and develop practical scenario-planning tools. • Build a rigorous testing and learning program • Design and evaluate geo experiments, matched-market tests, holdouts, conversion-lift studies, audience tests, and other incrementality approaches. • Define hypotheses, success metrics, test cells, sample-size and power requirements, measurement windows, and statistical decision criteria. • Apply causal inference methods when randomized experimentation is not practical. • Deliver hands-on analytics and influence decisions • Personally lead high-priority analyses from problem framing and data exploration through modeling, interpretation, and executive readout. • Use SQL and statistical programming tools to analyze large customer, media, engagement, and transaction datasets. • Evaluate performance by channel, campaign, audience, creative, content type, customer segment, and stage of the customer journey. • Provide cross-functional and team leadership • Lead cross-functional measurement initiatives involving Marketing, Media, Finance, Data Science, Analytics Engineering, Product, and agency partners. • Build strong partnerships with channel owners while maintaining analytical objectivity and independence.
What You Will Need • Bachelor's or master's degree in Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Data Science, Operations Research, Marketing Analytics, or another quantitative field; or equivalent years of experience • 8+ years of experience in marketing analytics, media measurement, experimentation, data science, or a related analytical discipline, including experience leading complex cross-functional work. • Deep expertise in marketing measurement and media effectiveness, including the ability to interpret, evaluate, and challenge Marketing Mix Models, design incrementality experiments, and translate analytical findings into actionable media investment recommendations. • Strong knowledge of incrementality testing, geo experimentation, lift studies, causal inference, attribution, and brand measurement. • Experience measuring upper-funnel and performance-oriented media, ideally including Social, TV, Influencer, and Content Marketing. • Advanced proficiency in SQL and proficiency in Python, R, or another statistical programming language. • Strong understanding of experimental design, statistical inference, power analysis, confidence intervals, and sources of measurement bias. • Demonstrated ability to turn analytical findings into media investment and marketing strategy recommendations. • Experience communicating complex analysis to senior leaders and influencing decisions across Marketing, Finance, and technical teams. • A leadership style that combines strategic thinking, methodological rigor, strong partnership, talent development, and a willingness to remain hands-on.
Preferred Qualifications • Experience leading media measurement in a large consumer, retail, e-commerce, subscription, or direct-to-consumer business. • Experience with MMM platforms or frameworks such as Google Meridian, Meta Robyn, or comparable custom solutions. • Experience integrating MMM with experiments, platform studies, attribution, brand research, and customer-level analysis. • Familiar with media and measurement platforms such as Meta, TikTok, YouTube, Google, The Trade Desk, Nielsen, Kantar, or similar tools. • Knowledge of reach and frequency measurement, adstock, saturation curves, interaction effects, halo effects, and long-term brand impact. • Experience with Snowflake, Databricks, dbt, Sigma, Tableau, or comparable modern data and business-intelligence platforms. • Experience managing agency or vendor relationships related to MMM, media analytics, brand measurement, or experimentation.
