About the Opportunity

Job Summary The successful candidate is expected to perform high-level theoretical research at the interface of theoretical physics and artificial intelligence (AI). The individual will work primarily with Jim Halverson and Fabian Ruehle and will become a Junior Investigator at the National Science Foundation (NSF) AI Institute for Artificial Intelligence and Fundamental Interactions (IAIFI), where they will participate in IAIFI activities and interact with scientists from Harvard, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and Tufts. Minimum Qualifications Required • PhD in Physics or an adjacent field, such as Mathematics, completed by the start of the appointment • Knowledge of High Energy Theory and Machine Learning, as usually acquired through a PhD in Physics or a related field Preferred • Experience in string theory • Experience in artificial intelligence (AI) Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities • Conduct academic research at the highest level in accordance with the IAIFI mission • Disseminate research results through research papers, conference presentations, and related scholarly communications Required Documents • Resume

Compensation Grade/Pay Type: 108S Expected Hiring Range: $60,315.00 - $85,192.50 With the pay range(s) shown above, the starting salary will depend on several factors, which may include your education, experience, location, knowledge and expertise, and skills as well as a pay comparison to similarly-situated employees already in the role.
