About the role

Built on meritocracy, our unique company culture rewards self-starters and those who are committed to doing what is best for our customers.

Brown and Brown is seeking an VP, Enterprise Architecture to join our growing team!

The VP, Enterprise Architecture builds and leads Brown & Brown's enterprise architecture practice. This is a founding leadership role: the practice is being established rather than inherited, and the first responsibilities are building the team, defining the target state, and establishing how architecture works with delivery.

The role leads the enterprise architects across domains, along with business architecture and architecture governance, and is accountable for the enterprise target state, the standards framework, and a consistent architecture process. It also sets the matrixed relationship with the architects embedded in delivery.

How You Will Contribute: Building the Practice • Recruit, hire, and develop the architecture team across domain, business, and governance roles • Define the architecture operating model: cadence, forums, decision rights, and how architecture engages delivery • Establish the practice's credibility with delivery and business leadership • Make the case for architecture investment and sequence hiring against the highest-value gaps Target State & Standards • Own the enterprise target-state architecture across domains, and the transition states that connect current reality to it • Own the standards framework and ensure it is applied consistently • Ensure domain roadmaps add up to one coherent enterprise direction rather than separate plans • Drive unified architecture across business segments, allowing standards to flex where operating models genuinely differ Architecture Process • Own the architecture process from target state through design, and make the lead role at each stage clear across enterprise, domain, platform, and solution architects • Own the reconciliation of unconstrained and constrained roadmaps with delivery, the PMO, and Finance, and make the trade-offs visible • Set the matrixed relationship with the platform and solution architects embedded in delivery Leading the Architects • Lead the domain enterprise architects as peers, setting enterprise direction while each remains accountable for their own domain • Arbitrate cross-domain trade-offs and boundary disputes • Hold the team to the standard of partnership with delivery rather than detached architecture • Build career paths and bench strength across the architecture discipline Governance, Debt & Rationalization • Own the enterprise position on technical debt and application rationalization, supported by architecture governance • Keep governance lightweight enough that delivery teams follow it rather than route around it • Hold accountability for measurable reduction in the debt and duplication that most constrain the business Executive Leadership & Partnerships • Serve as a trusted advisor to the CITO, the SVP, and business segment leadership • Translate architecture into business consequence: risk, cost, speed, and optionality • Partner with the Chief Data Office, Transformation Office & AI, and Emerging Technology so ownership is clear and nothing is duplicated • Represent architecture in executive technology forums and investment reviews

Skills and Experience to be Successful: • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field • 12+ years of progressive technology experience • 5+ years leading architects or architecture teams, including hiring and developing senior technologists • Demonstrated experience establishing or substantially rebuilding an enterprise architecture practice • Credible breadth across technology domains • Demonstrated experience defining enterprise target-state architecture and translating it into funded, sequenced roadmaps • Track record of architecture functions that partnered with delivery rather than operating as a review gate • Insurance, brokerage, or financial services experience. Preferred • Experience integrating acquired organizations onto enterprise platforms. Preferred
