About the Opportunity Wonder is looking for a Senior Director of Design to lead the Consumer Product design team and shape the experience that millions of diners use to discover, order, and enjoy their next meal. This is a rare opportunity to define the design point of view for a category-defining product at a pivotal moment of growth — where the website, apps, in-store experience, and the technology behind them are all still being invented.

You'll own the end-to-end craft and vision for our consumer experience, from the first tap to the last bite, partnering closely with Product, Engineering, Growth, Customer Support, and Culinary leadership to bring a cohesive, elevated point of view to every surface diners touch. You'll build and lead a team of exceptional designers, set the bar for what great looks like, and be the storyteller who rallies the company around a shared vision of the Wonder experience.

This role reports into senior leadership and will be a highly visible voice in the room — someone who can articulate why design decisions matter, bring clarity to ambiguity, and inspire both their team and the broader organization to care as much about the details as they do.

The Impact You Will Make • Define and champion the design vision and point of view for Wonder's consumer experience — across ordering, discovery, personalization, checkout, and post-order engagement — grounded in a deep understanding of what makes consumer UX/UI genuinely great • Build, mentor, and inspire a high-performing team of digital product designers, creating an environment where people do the best work of their careers and grow as craftspeople and leaders • Act as Wonder's design storyteller — presenting vision, strategy, and rationale to executives, the board, and cross-functional partners in a way that builds conviction and drives alignment • Partner with Product and Engineering leadership to translate business and customer goals into design strategy, and hold the team accountable to a high bar for craft, usability, and polish • Bring the latest thinking in design and AI-assisted workflows into the team's day-to-day practice — helping designers prototype, iterate, and ship faster without sacrificing quality • Establish and evolve design standards, systems, and rituals (critique, review, research) that scale craft and consistency as the team and product surface area grow • Stay close to the details — reviewing key flows and interactions personally, and modeling the level of rigor and taste you expect from the team • Champion the diner's perspective in every roadmap conversation, ensuring design has a seat at the table from strategy through execution

What You'll Bring • 12+ years of product design experience, including 5+ years leading and growing design teams at a high-scale consumer product or platform company • A track record as an inspiring manager and mentor — people you've led point to you as the reason they grew, and top design talent wants to work for you • Exceptional storytelling and communication skills — you can present a vision to a room of executives, defend a design decision with data and intuition, and get a cross-functional team excited to build it • Deep, demonstrated understanding of consumer UX/UI craft — you know what separates a good experience from a great one, and you can articulate why • Fluency with how AI is changing design and product development — you've integrated AI tools into design workflows to help teams prototype and ship more efficiently, and you have a point of view on where this is headed • A genuine belief that great products are built by great teams — you value people, collaboration, and psychological safety as much as you value the pixels • An obsessive attention to detail and a high, self-imposed bar for experience quality, balanced with the pragmatism to ship and iterate • A strong point of view on design trends and where the industry is headed, paired with the judgment to know what's right for Wonder specifically • Experience partnering closely with Product, Engineering, Data Science, and Marketing leaders to align design strategy with business outcomes • A portfolio that demonstrates both strategic vision and hands-on craft across complex, high-traffic consumer products

Preferred Qualifications • Experience designing for marketplace, food/delivery, e-commerce, or other high-frequency transactional consumer products • Experience scaling a design org through a period of rapid company growth • Background building or maturing a design system used across web and mobile • Experience designing for both digital and physical/in-store touchpoints

As a matter of company policy, Wonder does not sponsor applicants for employment visa status for this role.

Our hybrid model requires 3 days a week in the office. That said, many team members choose to come in more often to take advantage of in-person collaboration and connection. You're welcome—and encouraged—to be in the office up to 5 days a week if it works for you.

Salary: $271,000 - $295,500
